Who are the BOBStreet Boys?
While some songs feature special guests and other BOBs, the BOBStreet Boys are led by SPEAKER and THE PARTYMAN.
SPEAKER (SPEE to the A to the K-E-R!) is a huge fan of ABC's LOST, and moderates at The Fuselage (The Official Site of the Creative Team Behind LOST). He runs the Official Website of Javier-Grillo Marxauch (Writer and Supervising Producer on LOST's first two Seasons) and his Javiminions Fan Club, and also co-launced the popular Evil Puppet Masters news portal. Speaker produces, manages, and writes for the CG3 (a band featuring Gollum, Yoda and Dobby), has written a webcomic (Eat The Roses), and is also involved in numerous other online projects. Speaker is the CEO of GeekGasm Records, who's name you will see on all the BOBStreet Boys recordings.
THE PARTYMAN (Motherclucker!) is also a huge fan of ABC's LOST. He is a Moderator at The Fuselage (The Official Site of the Creative Team Behind LOST), where he still holds several records for "Longest Post Ever", despite not getting much posting in recently. He holds a PhSquee in Spoiler Practices and Ettiquette and can often be found lecturing newbie posters on the difference between something that has aired in an episode and something that has not. Inspired by the magic of the mandango, The Partyman is dedicated to spreading love, hugs, and laughter throughout the world.
What is this BOBStreet Boys thing all about then?
Both Speaker and The Partyman have a history of writing parodies of popular songs, and in fact the realisation of this - after The Partyman first heard Speaker's In Da Caveses (a song he infamously wrote for Gollum) - had a significant influence on their becoming friends, and ultimately partners in rhyme as the BOBStreet Boys.
The whole BOBStreet thing originally came about on The Fusleage Posting Board...
Feeling extremely outumbered by all the female posters, some of the menfolk started a group known as the BOBs (Boys Of the Board) so as a humourous way to encourage some unity between the male members. When some of the ladies started teasingly fangirling the BOBs, someone mentioned that they were being treated like Pop Stars, and Speaker made a "BOBSTREET BOYS!" joke (comparing the BOBs to the Backstreet Boys, a popular US BoyBand).
A while later, Speaker created the BOBStreet Boys LiveJournal Community, and the rest, as they say, is history!
During the early days of the BOBStreet Boys, they would write Lost and fandom-related parodies of popular songs, and share the lyrics on The Fuselage and the BSB LiveJournal. However, early in 2006, after Speaker had recorded several successful parodies for the CG3, they decided to get "hyper on your iPod" and released their debut single The Next Episode, to mark the return of LOST after the show's Winter hiatus. The original composition Mandango Thing was premiered on Lost Radio to celebrate the First Anniversary of the Mandango, and this was followed by several other songs, and some unforgettable live performances in Los Angeles for Lost Weekend 2007.
With the Final Season of LOST airing in 2010, the story may be almost over... but the party never ends.
Where can I hear BOBStreet Boys songs?
There are some mp3s in the Discography section of the site, and songs can also be found by visiting our MySpace, Facebook and YouTube pages. Not all songs are available in all locations, so you might want to look/listen around.
